Juneteenth In Michigan's Capital

A Historic Day Was Celebrated With An Amazing Event In Reotown Lansing


Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of slaves from years of bondage at the hands of, cough, ya know. The celebration originated in Texas, and was adopted by the rest of country shortly after. Every year on June 19th the country collectively remembers, reflects, and rejoices in the progress since the days of slavery and oppression.


This year in Lansing an event in Reotown of Lansing truly highlighted the essence of Juneteenth. Local musician and organizer Mikey Austin put together music acts, food, history, local business and excited people to form a true celebration of black life and love.
