Claressa Shields And Anthony Dirrell Return To The Ring This Weekend

Updated: Oct 12, 2022

  • Shields Vs. Marshall

On October 15th Flints own, Claressa Shields, makes her much anticipated return to the ring. Shields was originally scheduled to fight on September 10th at the famous O2 arena, but the fight was postponed due to Queen Elizabeth’s death. As the country mourned,  expectations around the bout continued to grow and make national headlines.

In their professional careers both Shields and Marshall have steamrolled through their respective competition, both sitting at 12-0, with Savannah holding the KO advantage, 10 KOs to Shields 2.  Now this fight is very important to both fighters as they previously fought in the amateurs with Marshall defeating Shields via decision. Both fighters are looking to gain women boxing supremacy, as Shields put her GWOAT status on the line and Marshall fights in the name of Queen Elizabeth. Tune into this fight on ESPN+, card time starts at 2:30pm EST.

  • Direll Vs. Plant

Flint native, Anthony Dirrell, will also be fighting this weekend, facing off with the former IBF super middleweight champion, Caleb Plant.  Dirrell is 1-0-1 and his last two fights looking to gain some momentum in this upcoming bout. Plant called this bout a ‘tune up’ fight as the two exchanged words during the last press conference. Plants expecting a moderately easy fight as he looks to get back in championship contention. Being a 2-time champion Direll isn’t at all fazed by the underdog comments. While Dirrell isn’t quite in his physical prime, his veteran saviness should make this a competitive brawl. Tune into this fight on FOX Sports PPV, card times start at 9pm EST.
