If you aren't aware the NBAs Golden State Warriors appear to have some internal turmoil after reports and video come out surrounding Draymond Green punching teammate Jordan Poole. This comes off as quite the surprise as Golden State has been the 'golden standard' of the league for a handful of years now. Now this isn't the first time fans have heard of teammates fighting behind closed doors. Michael Jordan infamously punched Steve Kerr during a practice while the Bulls where in the thick of their dynasty, mulitple players from the 2008 Boston Celtics championship team has come out recalling full fledge boxing matches amongst teammates, those are just two additional examples of teammates going at each other for better or for worse. Now while the 90s are far gone and 2008 is more than a decade behind us, the terms and conditions around these type of events aren't exactly the same. Social media as we all know puts even more emphasis on these types of headlines, making this topic an even 'bigger' deal.If you aren't aware the NBAs Golden State Warriors appear to have some internal turmoil after reports and video come out surrounding Draymond Green punching teammate Jordan Poole. Back in 2018 Draymond infamously got into an argument with Kevin Durant, another teammate of Draymonds at the time. You could see the two visibly arguing on the court, spilling over to the sidelines where you could hear Draymond using vulgar language. This caused a rumored disconnect between Kevin Durant, the players, and the organization. Kevin Durant ultimately left the team as he felt his time with players and team were numbered. Upper management, players, and even analyst pinned the blame on Draymond following Durants departure. Here we are a few years later and rumors are swirling again.
Warriors Poole is eligible for an extension, while Draymond is playing in a contract year. Poole has emerged as the 3rd leading scorer within their current core, making it evident he's more than qualified for an extension. Draymond role hasn't dipped at all, but he hasn't been offered what he feels is a fair 'market value' extension. Theres been chatter around Draymond possibly joining the Lakers as he's been spotted numerous times this off season with Lakers own, Lebron James. After falling out with a teammate for a second time, it's safe to say the organization can deem Draymond 'problematic,' not helping his case for an extension. With Poole steadily emerging as Golden States possible 3rd star, it's unclear where Draymond sits within the organization after his latest altercation. Just as they won a ring after Kevin Durant left the team, the organization has full faith in Steph Curry leading the team to the promise land once again with or without Draymond by his side. Will Draymond be extended? Will Poole get his extension or demand a trade? Will other NBA teams show their trade interest in Draymond? These questions will be answered in the coming months, possibly days. Stay tuned as the NBA gears up to tip off their 77th season on Oct 18th, with the Golden State Warriors hosting the Los Angeles Lakers.
